2016 Billboard Music Awards Preview


billboardHosted by Ludacris and Ciara, the 2016 Billboard Music Awards are sure to spark some emotions, not only from the artists, but from the viewers as well. Here is a brief rundown of the highlights of the show, which airs live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday, May 22nd.

  • Receiving the Billboard Millennium Award, Britney Spears will be kicking off the televised show with a mash up of her past hits.
  • After the death of Prince in April, the Billboard Music Award producers wanted to do a tribute to the singer. They got together with Madonna’s team, and Madonna is going to do an intimate tribute to Prince.
  • After the tragic loss of her husband René Angélil and her brother Daniel Dion to cancer, Celine Dion will be making her first television appearance since those events to accept the Icon Award. She will sing also Queens “The Show Must Go On,” which was written by guitarist Brian May as a tribute to Freddie Mercury.
  • Pink has been rehearsing off site for five days for her ambitious top secret performance to her new song, “Just Like Fire”.


Some of the presenters for the night are Jessica Alba, Kristen Bell, 2016 Miss America winner Betty Cantrell, Lauren Cohan, Kathryn Hahn, Wiz Khalifa, Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Idina Menzel, Keke Palmer, Rebecca Romijn, Serayah, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Lindsey Vonn and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz. Some musical performers for the night are Fifth Harmony, Troye Sivan, Meghan Trainor, Rihanna, Lukas Graham, Justin Bieber and more.
