The Fine Line of Being an Extra

Being an extra is a great fun and a wonderful experience.  It gives you the opportunity to mingle with famous people and gain experience in the industry by seeing how everything works.  But whether it involves a local commercial or lands you on the silver-screen there is a level of professionalism that is demanded as one extra found out.  On the set of the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice one extra discovered some confidential information and is now facing some serious financial consequences.  After divulging some key plot information to a local news station, WILX-10 in Lansing, MI, Warner Bros. studios has seen fit to suit the extra to the tune of $5 million.

It is my personal opinion that this is a bit of a hefty fine to dole out to “Mr. Joe Extra.”  But it does go to show you how serious that the studio takes the secrecy of the plot of their upcoming films.  It’s easy to find out what the extra had to say about the upcoming summer blockbuster and, at least to me, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal.  There isn’t a whole lot of the plot divulged and possibly one character exposed, but that is it.  Hardly $5 million worth of information.

Still this shows how serious that the studios are to secure their story lines and secrets.  And goes to show you how they expect a level of professionalism from EVERYONE on set.
